What's new in Sound Meter 1.0
Measure your surrounding sounds using just your mobile's microphone and compare the results on a realtime chart.The circular meter displays the live sound level in Decibels and changes its color according to the measured value:
Green: Quiet range
Blue: Low sound range
Orange: Medium sound range
Red: High sound range
Pinch to zoom in and out of the realtime chart and slide your finger to move across the measured values history.
Note: Due to the limitations set by most Android phone manufacturers, the built in microphone will not detect sounds higher than 80 Decibels (90 Decibels on certain models).
Disclaimer: This tool is not valid as a replacement to a real sound meter device and therefore, should not be used in critical situations. The mobile's microphone is not an industrially accurate sound measurement device and might produce incorrect and incompatible values with different environments and situations.
Sound Meter Permissions
Full network access - allows the app to create network sockets and use custom network protocols. the browser and other applications provide means to send data to the internet, so this permission is not required to send data to the internetView network connections - allows the app to view information about network connections such as which networks exist and are connected
Record audio - allows the app to record audio with the microphone. this permission allows the app to record audio at any time without your confirmation
